June is just weeks away, which means it’s the beginning of summer in Maui! If you’re headed to our island paradise, be sure to secure one of our Maui condo rentals well in advance – they go fast. Vacationing in Maui in the summer is great, as there are tons of festivals and annual events going on in addition to everything else there is to do including water activities, picnicking on the beach, hiking, shopping, dining, golfing, taking the Road to Hana, etc. We’ve listed a few of these festivals and events below.
June 24th is when you can enjoy the annual Hawaiian Slack Key (Ki Hoalu) Guitar Festival. A free outdoor concert, this festival will keep you entertained for the entire afternoon. Craft booths, great food, and of course some of the best slack key guitarists in Hawaii! This festival takes place in Kahului at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.
If you’re staying in West Maui you won’t want to miss the Wa’a Kiakahi Canoe Festival June 1st through 3rd! An exciting event and one that’s beautiful to watch, the festival takes place on Ka’anapali Beach and includes demonstrations, canoe races, and sailing-canoe rides. This festival celebrates ancient Hawaiian canoe sailing and the dozens of watermen and women who do it best.
June 16th and 17th is the Kamehameha Day Celebration where you’ll enjoy a day long festival in Lahaina’s Banyan Tree Park that includes Hawaiian music, craft booths, food, hula and a wonderful parade. Kamehameha Day is a state holiday in Hawaii (June 11) that honors the state’s first king after uniting the Hawaiian Islands in 1810.
Other events and festivals during June include the 37th Annual Kapalua Wine & Food Festival June7th through 10th, and the Maui Film Festival in Wailea June 13th through 17th. This isn’t a complete list, it’s just a sampling of all there is to do on our beautiful island!
Save the dates, and be sure to book one of our luxurious Maui condo rentals where you’ll enjoy unwinding in comfort and the incredible ocean views at the end of the day.
